How does Rouge compare to the competitors?
Buying a Red Light Therapy Panel is a serious decision. Not only are there many things you must consider, the sheer amount of information available online can make the decision a little bewildering and quite frankly even a little overwhelming.
We’d like to provide some guidance based on objective criteria. This allows us to offer unbiased and helpful information so that you can make the best choice for yourself.
There are also different sets of variables that you’ll want to consider as an informed consumer:
Questions to ask:
WHAT ARE THE SPECS ON EACH LIGHT?
This is where the real value comes in; how much light is your device providing you with? Can a panel with only 150 LED's provide the same amount of light and strength as a panel that has 300 LED's?
When comparing products, we suggest that you always look at the number of LED's when trying to choose between similarly sized and priced panels. You will notice that our Panels have far more LED's than most of the competitors, and we do not space our LED's out over a huge panel in order to cut corners, giving you the best and highest irradiance blanket of light energy on the market. Take for instance, our most popular panel - the Pro. There are many other panels on the market with a similar sized case. However the similarity often ends there. If you are only getting 150, or 200, or 215 LED's instead of 300 then you are absolutely not getting the same value. This makes choosing our panels with 30% - 50% more LED's an easy choice!
IS THE DEVICE THIRD-PARTY TESTED?
Without this data you have no trustworthy point of reference. As a consumer, you have the right not to blindly trust a manufacturer or retailer that you’ve never met.
The question to consider with any budget: Is it worth the risk to buy a relatively cheap panel that may not deliver the benefits you’re looking for? Many red light device sellers have absolutely no data to prove that the wavelengths or strength of their lights are in the right range to offer therapeutic benefits. Without this data you’re in a literal jungle as far as what you could be buying. After all, LEDs can produce many wavelengths, and if they don’t peak specifically on ones that have proven benefits, you might be missing out on the most optimal wavelengths red light therapy has to offer.
If the irradiance (strength of the LEDs) is not clinically effective (please bear in mind that cheap handheld light testers are not a reliable source of data) then you’re wasting your time in front of the panel as you won’t be getting the amount of light energy that it takes to elicit the benefits of Red Light Therapy.
The kind of sophisticated equipment that can accurately test wavelengths past the 800nm range can be found in highly reputable light labs such as Independent Testing Labs of Colorado, which is where we sent our most popular panel, the Rouge Pro, to be tested.
We’re proud of the results that clearly show in scientific language how Rouge is head and shoulders above the competition . Here they are, clearly explained in lay terms.
WHAT ARE YOUR WARRANTY TERMS AND RETURN POLICY?
When making a sizeable investment such as a Red Light Therapy panel, you want to make sure that the company offers
- Good communication – are they reachable by phone? Do they call you back right away after you leave a message or do you have to wait days for a response?
- A fair return policy
- A strong warranty
- If your light gets lost or damaged in transit, are you able to reach them easily for assistance?
At Rouge we’re here with you from the moment you place your order and well beyond. Our strong 3-year warranty and generous return policy coupled with our rigorous customer service support means you can buy with confidence. We’re available to help you with immediate responses, a live phone line and hands-on attention.
If you do business with a company that cuts corners on their customer service, warranty and return policies, you might be left with no recourse should you have a problem or need help with anything.
Please note that companies that only have an email address but no phone number to call may not be based in the country they are marketing to; they’re really selling online from a far-away country and can simply stop communicating if they no longer wish to deal with an issue.
HOW IS THE ROUGE DESIGN DIFFERENT THAN OTHER BRANDS?
We’re very proud of the design of our panels – rigorous standards meet cutting edge design to deliver the absolute best results.
The first superior design aspect of our lights is construction integrity.
Why is this important?
As with any electronic device, solid construction is a must, as Red Light Therapy lights must be able to endure the rigors of shipping and everyday use. The outer metal casing protects our lights so well that we’ve had almost no issues with shipping damage or breakage of any kind. The old plexiglass faced panels shown on the right of Figure 1 below are using outdated technology found in cheaper, grow light industry-style lights. We strongly urge consumers to avoid this model as it represents the most primitive style of LEDs which has long become obsolete.
HOW ARE YOU DIFFERENT FROM SOME OF THE OTHER BIG NAMES?
Primarily, one of the biggest differences lies in the design of the lenses; our LEDs have a 30 degree beam angle delivered by a 5 Watt LED.
Imagine a flashlight if you will, with a broader, weaker beam which can be achieved by adjusting the focus angle versus the tighter, narrower beam which gives you a much brighter light. This is the difference between the 90-, 60- and 30-degree beam angles. Rouge lights all have 30-degree beam angles, which is why we space our LEDs so close together, giving you a stronger and brighter overall blanket of light, rather than having the same number of LEDs or fewer spread out them out more on a bigger panel, forcing a wider beam angle to compensate for the larger gaps between the LEDs.
Among all of our competitors’ with third party testing data, we had the highest level of irradiance, which is what you can see for yourself from the lab results. This translates to a more versatile panel, allowing for the user to back away for greater coverage or stand closer for deeper treatment without losing generous coverage.
Additionally, all of our panels feature 5 Watt LEDs which have a 100,000-hour lifespan. This is an immensely long time when you think of it in terms of the sheer number of treatments you can achieve.

We hope this helps you in your quest to make an informed decision with regards to purchasing the best red light therapy device to suit your needs. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions.
